While Melehy & Associates has weekly victories on behalf of our clients ranging from obtaining a reasonable accomodation for an employee with a disability, to a successful divorce verdict to discharge of all debts in bankruptcy, the following are a sampling of the firm's litigation victories.

Whistleblower and False Claims Act Verdict (September 2009) - The firm achieved an award of over $400,000 this False Claims Act litigation in Federal Court following a three week jury trial. A request for attorneys' fees and costs is currently pending with the court. The firm's client served as an accountant and alerted federal authorities of the non-profit's illegal activity related to grants and was terminated soon thereafter.

Disability Discrimination, Failure to Accommodate and Retaliation (September 2009) - The firm achieved a settlement of approximately $150,000 on behalf of a federal employee whose employer refused to grant her a reasonable accommodation of a work at home agreement because her disability prevented her from traveling and working at the work site. The case was litigated in the EEOC.

Foreclosure Rescue Scam and Consumer Protection (February 2009) - the firm achieved a judgment of $750,000 for a homeowner who was the victim of a foreclosure rescue scam. The case was litigated in arbitration.

Pregnancy Discrimination (November 2008) - the firm achieved a settlement of $50,000 for an employee prior to litigation who was refused a position with the Defendant because she was pregnant.

Race Discrimination, harassment and Retaliation (September 2008) - the firm achieved a settlement of $148,000 in a case brought on behalf of a federal employee who experienced race discrimination, harassment and retaliation in the workplace. The case was litigated in the EEOC.

Wrongful Termination of Three DC employees (September 2008) - the firm recovered over 1.4 million dollars and reinstatement on behalf of three employees who were wrongfully discharged from the District of Columbia Public Schools.

Breach of Employment Contract (January 2006) - After a successful jury trial and several appeals, the firm successfully recovered approximately $600,000 on behalf of an employee who was terminated in breach of his employment contract.
