Melehy & Associates filed a federal lawsuit against D.C. Water and Sewer Authority (WASA) on behalf of Tonia Little for disability discrimination. WASA terminated Ms. Little’s employment following Ms. Little’s double lung transplant that was necessary in order to save her life. Ms. Little, at the instruction of her doctor, requested that she return to work at WASA part-time for a mere two weeks before returning full time to ensure that her new lungs and body acclimated to working. WASA denied the request, instructed her to return full time immediately and when Ms. Little failed to do so, WASA terminated her employment.
Melehy & Associates attorneys strongly believe that WASA’s actions are in direct violation of federal and D.C. laws protecting individuals with disabilities.
